A temple priest in Nabha committed suicide after seriously injuring his wife, with whom he had a fight, and two-year-old daughter on Thursday. The deceased identified as Narinder Das, who was working as a priest at a temple in Nabha, severally injured his wife and cut the veins of his daughter. Both were rushed to the Government Rajindra Medical College here, where they are undergoing treatment. The doctors termed their condition critical due to of loss of blood.
It was learnt that Das also worked as a part-time photographer. His mother Ram Piari told the police that the trio was going to nap while she was in the first floor of the house.
When she came down, she noticed that her son was hanging from the ceiling fan while her daughter-in-law Geeta (20) and granddaughter Mansi (2) were injured and unconscious. The mother-daughter duo was then shifted to the hospital, with the helf of neighbours, she said.
It was also learnt that that Das mentally ill.
The reason behind the crime would come to the fore after recording Geeta's statement, the police said. A case was registered under section 306(Abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
