Ten injured as mini bus turns over near Mattewara

Atleast 10 people were injured as a mini bus turned over near Mattewara on Monday morning due to fog and bad road. The injured were sent home after administrating first aid at a hospital.

Driver and conductor of the bus fled from the spot after the incident. The Meharban police station has confiscated the bus.

The injured have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, Manpreet Singh, Jasbir Ram, Bhupinder Singh, Major Singh, Karnail Singh, Sarwinder Singh, Sunita, Surjit Kaur and Dharampal.

One of the injured Manpreet Singh said he boarded the bus from Machiyan village for Basti Jodhewal Chowk. The stretch of road had potholes. As they reached near Matterwara, the driver has the lost control due to potholes and the bus alighted from the road and turned over.

At the time of incident, around 14 passengers were travelling in the bus. Sub-inspector Rajhesh Thakur said the police reached at the spot immediately after being informed and initiated rescue operation.

He said the driver and the conductor fled from the spot after the incident. The police have impounded the bus and have initiated proceedings to register a case against the driver.
