Tension prevailed at the Ram Tirath shrine as supporters of two groups that are struggling to take control of the shrine gathered on the spot Monday and resorted to sloganeering. The issue pertaining to the control of the shrine continues to remain unresolved.
Meanwhile, the Amritsar rural police have rounded up seven people in this connection, but no case was registered against them till the filing of the report.
“There is a possibility that a case may be registered against them later, but, as of now, no case has been registered,” Inspector Harminder Singh, SHO, Lopoke police station, said.
A group led by Mahant Malkeet Nath and SAD leader Om Prakash Gabbar and the other one headed by Mahant Baldev Giri are trying to take the control of the shrine. Sources said the group led by Mahant Giri had a court order in its favour.
