The terrain cars made by engineering students of Rayat Bahra College was adjudged first in the US Baja Race organised at the University of Texas, El Paso, the US, from April 24-27.
The off-road vehicles were selected from among vehicles of 100 prestigious institutes across the word.
The terrain cars of Rayat Bhara topped in the Asia category.
At the competition, students had designed and built prototype of a rugged, single-seat, off-road recreational vehicle intended for sale to the non-professional weekend off-road enthusiast.
The team members who designed the coveted car included captain Abhinav Sharma, Aakaash Bose, Ankit Girdher, Paras Bhardwaj, Navdeep Dimri, Gurbir Singh Benipal, Kartik Dogra, Abhishek Choudhary, Parminder Singh, Sameer Gupta and Hitesh Sharma.
Ankit Girdher from mechanical engineering drove the vehicles during competition.
Congratulating the students, Gurvinder Singh Bhara, chairman of the group, said: "It is a moment of pride for us as cars designed by our students' bagged position in the international event for the fourth time."
