A public meeting of Congress was organised in Haibowal on Sunday. Union information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari was chief guest for the meeting.

Local councillor Hemraj Aggarwal has organised the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, Tewari accused the ruling Akali-BJP government in the state of not only ignoring Ludhiana in terms of development, but also diverting the development funds from the city to other places.

Tewari said while the state government had mostly been indifferent towards the city, it was being hostile to the areas represented by the Congress.

The minister maintained that even the funds granted by the central government were either diverted for other purposes or were not accounted for.

Cong all set to win elections

Meanwhile, during a personal visit to senior Congress leader KK Bawa's house on Sunday, Manish Tewari said, “Congress party is all set to win in the upcoming parliamentary elections.”

Ludhiana member of Parliament Tewari said, “The Congress party will emerge as winner during the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Congress has worked for all-round development of the country and will continue to do so in the coming years.”

Tewari said, “Bawa has done a tremendous work for the party. He is still doing a lot for Congress, and I wish he will continue to do so in future.”

Union minister of state for health and family welfare Santosh Chaudhary was also present.

Tewari said Congress in Punjab would emerge stronger in the coming days and would expose the SAD-BJP alliance on all fronts.

He said people of the state have been deprived of all basic amenities and wanted a change now.
