Two incidents of theft of cash box from two religious places were reported here on Monday, in which thieves decamped with 'guru ki goluk' (cash box) and cash from a gurdwara and samadhi, respectively, in Pola village late last night.

Senior SAD leader Kuldeep Singh Pola said thieves locked the priest inside a room and decamped with the cashbox after cutting strong iron chains. The thieves also took away the cash after cutting open the cash box of a samadhi site in the village. Earlier too the thieves had damaged the cashbox of a gurdwara in Mianpur village, Pola added. Pola urged the district administration to post police patrolling vans for protection of the religious places.

Investigation officer of the Mullepur police station Karam Chand said they had received information about the theft in Pola village late last night and have started investigations in the case. Efforts to nab the culprits were on, he added. No arrests have been made so far.
