Thieves burgle two houses; cash, valuables stolen

Thieves struck at two houses on Sunday night and stole cash and valuables worth lakhs. In the Scheme No 11 locality near the mini secretariat, `6.33 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, a computer, an i-pad, a camera, a movie projector and other valuables were stolen from the house of a marble supplier Parmod Randev.

The family had gone out in the evening and when they returned to the house late in the night, they found the house burgled.

Ornaments and cash were also stolen from the house of another trader Subhash Khana in New Civil Lines. Khanna claimed that the thieves escaped with the booty right in front of his eyes. "When I opened the gate, the miscreants scaled the wall and escaped via our neighbour's house", he said.

Meanwhile, thieves also stuck at the government secondary school, Piplanwala, on the Jalandhar road. When the sweeper reached the school at around 6 am, she found the gate open. Principal Harbans Kaur revealed that files and food items were stolen.
