Thieves' gang headed by a minor girl busted; four held

The police claim to have busted a gang of thieves that was headed by a 17-year-old girl. The police have also arrested three other people, including the mother of kingpin.

The police have recovered 200gm gold, 2 motorbikes, Rs 58,000 cash, two laptops, two I-pads, two guitars, among other valuables from the possession of the accused.

Interestingly, the police have also returned the valuables seized from the gang members to their actual owners as per the court order.

Police on Sunday had arrested two people, who were riding a stolen bike. During questioning the accused Sher Singh alias Sheru and Amit Kumar, both residents of Sham Nagar, told the Sarabha Nagar police that they were members of a thieves' gang.

During investigations, Sarabha Nagar SHO Harpal Singh got leads about the involvement of a girl and her mother and arrested them.

Police Commissioner Paramjit Singh Gill said that the kingpin used to recce localities to identify houses where the owners were away.

As per the police, the accused have confessed to their involvemnt in 10 thefts in Sarabha nagar, Saheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Aman Park etc.

On Tuesday, the police returned Rs 58,000 cash and 70-gm gold to its actual owner.
