The State Election Commission on Tuesday announced the schedule of the third phase of the panchayat raj institution (PRI) election, in which polling would be held in Kangra district and all urban local bodies, except Shimla municipal corporation and Dharamsala Municipal Corporation.
Meanwhile, candidates also filed nomination for the second phase of PRI elections on Tuesday.
State election commissioner TG Negi, while addressing mediapersons here, said in PRIs, including zila parishad, panchayats and block committees’, elections would be held on January 10 and January 12. While election for 52 urban local bodies (ULBS), including all municipal councils and committees, would be held on January 10.
The nominations for the third phase would be filed on December 26, December 28 and December 29 and document would be scrutinised on December 30. The nomination can be withdrawn till January 1, Negi added.
He said, “Counting for the third phase for panchayats and ULBs would done on the same day after polling, while for block committees and zila parishads would be done on January 15. The Model Code of Conduct has been enforced in the Kangra district from Tuesday.”
