Taking note that four of the eight days earmarked for nomination filing are holidays, the state election commission has taken permission from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to receive nominations on two of the holidays - April 14 (Baisakhi) and April 18 (Good Friday).
In the video conferencing with the ECI on Monday, the state election commission raised this issue, state election commission spokesperson Neeraj Sharma said.
Scrutiny of the nominations will be on April 21 and last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 23.
Nominations will be filed at Shimla for Shimla Lok Sabha seat, at Mandi for Mandi Lok Sabha seat, at Hamirpur for Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat and at Dharmsala for Kangra Lok Sabha seat.
Till far, BJP and Congress have announced their candidates for all the fours seats, while rookie party Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has finalised candidates for Hamirpur and Kangra seats.
This time, there are over 47 lakh electors and 7,352 polling booths. May 7 is the polling day.
