Three booked for raping Class-9 student in Moga

The district police have registered a criminal case against three people for allegedly raping a Class-9 student at Badhni Kalan in Nihal Singh Wala subdivision of Moga district on Sunday.


Police of ficials said the 15-year-old victim was going to school on Saturday as her annual exam result was to be announced when some people abducted and raped her. No arrest has been made so far.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that three people, who were in a car, abducted her when she was on way to school. “After raping the girl, the accused fled, leaving the victim in fields between Badhni Kalan and Lopo villages in an unconscious and critical condition. Somebody informed her family about this,” said police officials.

Karamjeet Kaur, assistant sub-inspector of Badhni Kalan police station, said the victim was taken to the Dr Mathura Dass civil hospital, Moga, where a special team of the doctors conducted her medical examination.

Senior superintendent of police Kamaljeet Singh Dhillon said a case has been registered against Sukhjiwan Singh and Jagsir Singh, both of residents Badhni Kalan, and an unidentified person on the basis of the statement of the victim.

“The police have conducted raids at various suspected hideouts of the culprits to nab them. A special police team has been constituted to investigate the matter,” said the senior superintendent of police.
