The Sangrur police have booked Mohammad Ashraf, Mohammad Imran and Mohammad Yakub, residents of Malerkotla, for allegedly raping and extorting money from a married woman.

DSP Bimal Sharma said the case was registered on a complaint from a married woman that the accused Ashraf and Imran raped her few month ago and then on the threats of exposing her before her husband continued to exploit her physically.

"The accused also demanded Rs 2 lakh from the complainant and gave her a deadline of August 9 to hand over the money," DSP said.

No arrest had been made till the filing of the report.
