The three-day Baba Pallaha Hockey Tournament (Under 14) under the aegis of Baba Pallaha Sports Club (BPSC) and Majha Punjabi Saath (MPS) commenced on Friday at the BPSC stadium in Butala.
Out of the 20 participating teams from various pockets of north India, six teams played three matches on Friday.
In the first match, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh Hockey Academy (MRSHA), Amritsar, defeated Master Bir Das Hockey Academy (MBDH), Narwana, Haryana, by 1-0.
In the second match, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar, defeated Cheema Hockey Academy (CHA), Gurdaspur, by three goals.
In the last match of the day, host Baba Pallaha Hockey Academy (BPHA), Butala, defeated Khalsa Academy (KA), Mehta, Amritsar, by 5-0.
The tournament was inaugurated by village philanthropists and NRIs Surjeet Kaur Bal and Gurdev Singh Bal, who have been donating for the tournament and to the club from last many years.
