Eyeing opportunities in the tourism industry in the coming festive season, travel and tourism exhibition India Travel Mart (ITM) will be organised here from August 3 to 5.Chief managing director, ITM, Ajay Gupta said here on Friday that about 45 firms will be putting up their stalls and educating people about different travel opportunities available with the pricing of packages.
“Tourism has become a popular global leisure activity and is also becoming a booming sector in the Indian economy. Tourism is essential to people's life because of its direct effects on social, cultural, educational, and economic sectors and on international relations of countries,” he said.
“When tourists come in contact with places they visit and its population, a social exchange takes place. It also increases export earnings and growth rate in the economy. Inflow of inbound and outbound tourists will increase in the coming months from North India's Tier II cities and Ludhiana will play a crucial role in promoting tourism,” he said.
He said that the exhibition would not only benefit Ludhiana residents but people from nearby cities such as Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and other states as well and they can choose a variety of attractive packages and deals just under one roof.
The department of tourism in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are the partner in this exhibition and would set up their stalls to educate and attract tourists. Competitions such as travel quiz, travel painting competitions among others will also be held during the exhibition for children.
