Three dead in separate road mishaps

Three persons lost their lives in two road mishaps on Saturday evening.In the first incident, a man and her elderly mother lost their lives in a road mishap near Ghulati village on Payal-Rara Sahib road after a car rammed into their bike. The car driver is said to have lost control on the vehicle due to the dilapidated condition of the road.

Three persons lost their lives in two road mishaps on Saturday evening.In the first incident, a man and her elderly mother lost their lives in a road mishap near Ghulati village on Payal-Rara Sahib road after a car rammed into their bike. The car driver is said to have lost control on the vehicle due to the dilapidated condition of the road.

The deceaseds have been identified as Paramjit Singh (34) and his mother Pritam Kaur (80).

The victims were the way to Payal to visit their relative, who was about to leave for abroad. The deceased were crossing a bus stand near Ghulati village when a Maruti car hit the motorcycle.

The victims sustained severe injuries and were taken to Sant Isher Singh Memorial Hospital. The doctors, finding them critical, referred the victims to a private hospital. Pritam Kaur died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital at Malerkotla, while Paramjit Singh died while he was being taken to the hospital. The Khanna police have registered a case of causing death due to negligence against the unidentified driver of the car, who is said to be absconding.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a speedy car hit a cyclist to death near fountain chowk on Saturday evening. The cyclist was rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Division Number 8 police have registered a case of causing death due to negligence against the unidentified driver of the car. The passers-by jotted down the registration number of the car and informed police. The police have contacted the district transport office to identify the car owner.

The deceased has been identified as Mohan Lal of Lapran village.

Manpreet Singh, the deceased's son, stated to police that his father after making purchases from Ghumar Mandi, was returning when he was hit by the car near fountain chowk.
