Three held with illegal weapons

CIA staff of police commissionerate has arrested three youths, including two cousins, in three cases and allegedly seized three illegal firearms from their possession.

CIA staff-1 arrested Satnam Singh alias Jassi of Manakwal village on Thursday from Millar Gunj and claimed to have seized .12-bore pistol and two cartridges from his possession.

Another team of CIA staff-1 arrested his cousin Jaspal Singh alias Pali of Manakwal village from Dugri area and seized .315-bore pistol along with a cartridge.

According to inspector Harpal Singh, incharge of CIA staff-1, Satnam was acquitted in a case registered by Model Town police in 2007 after the murder of a youth Amritpal Singh.

Satnam told police during questioning that he procured the pistol for self-protection, since he apprehended that the kith and kin of Amritpal could make an attempt on his life.

Inspector Harpal Singh said police were investigating the past criminal record of Jaspal.

In the third case, CIA staff-2 arrested a youth and allegedly seized a .32-bore pistol along with 6 cartridges from Salem Tabri area.

According to inspector Gurbans Singh Bains, incharge of CIA staff-2, said that the accused was facing trial in two cases of attempt to murder and assault. He was bailed out recently. Police were investigating from where he procured the weapon.
