Inmates clashed at the central jail here on Monday evening resulting in injuries to three of them.

Deputy jail superintendent Manjit Singh said eight inmates from two groups clashed around 4 pm, leading to injuries to three. Inmates took out a wooden window frame and attacked one another with this. Manjit said all injured were provided treatment at the local civil hospital. He said the jail administration had recommended to the Civil Lines police station that a case be registered.

The inmates are being shifted to the newly constructed jail at Gobindpura village these days, so some of the security personnel have been shifted there. The curtailed security staff took time in quelling the clash.
