Three killed in mishap

Three people were killed in a road accident at Kakrala on the Nabha-Sangrur road on Thursday, when the car they were travelling in overturned, after one of its tyres burst.

Three people were killed in a road accident at Kakrala on the Nabha-Sangrur road on Thursday, when the car they were travelling in overturned, after one of its tyres burst.

The victims have been identified as Gurpreet Singh (40), a resident of Khanna, his brother-in-law Harbaljinder Singh (38) and Rajesh Kumar (43), both residents of Sangrur. All three died on the spot, while Prateek Kumar (16), son of Rajesh Kumar, has survived unhurt.

The police said that the occupants were coming back to Sangrur after picking-up Gurpreet, who was released on bail from the Patiala Central Jail. Harbaljinder owns a famous restaurant in Sangrur city.

Chintawala police station in-charge Mohar Singh said that Prateek, the only survivor, told police said he called 108 ambulance soon after the accident, but it only managed to reach the spot after 45 minutes of the incident. He added that the bodies had been handed over to the families after the post-mortem.
