The police have booked three members of a family, including a woman, on the charges of rape and under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act on the complaint of a 17-year-old girl from Bohan village.

The minor had told the police that she came in contact with one Sukhbir Singh in Nagdipur village, where she stayed with her grandmother.

When one of her uncles objected to her meetings with the man, she said she ran from the house on March 24 to stay with Sukhbir’s family. She has now alleged that Sukhbir raped her, promising to marry her. When she protested, she was kept in captivity and manged to flee only on May 23.

She alleged that Sukhbir’s parents did not do anything to stop the crime being commited against her. The Chabbewal police registered a case under Section 376 (rape) against the man and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) against his parents, besides booking them under the Child Protection Act.

All the three were arrested on Saturday and produced in court, which sent them to judicial custody.
