Three of family arrested for beating man to death
The Division 7 police have arrested three members of a family for beating a driver, Harjinder Singh alias Pintu (45), to death in Kishor Nagar area on Wednesday evening. One of the accused is still at large. Pintu allegedly passed indecent remarks on one of the women of the family, following which he was thrashed.

The arrested accused have been identified as Bachhan Singh (60), his wife Manjit Kaur (55) and their daughter-in-law Jeeto (35). The accused still to be arrested has been identified as Bachhan's son Bagga Singh.
ACP (east) Satish Malhotra said the police arrested the accused from near Veer Palace on Chandigarh road on Thursday, when they were trying to leave the city to evade arrest.
The accused told to police that Pintu used to tease Jeeto and often passed indecent remarks on her and he did the same on Wednesday evening.
In a fit of rage, the family members together thrashed Pintu, who fell on the ground and died.
Division 7 SHO inspector Raj Kumar said the police registered a case of murder against the accused on the complaint of Jagdev Singh, paternal uncle of Pintu. Jagdev Singh stated that on Wednesday, he was in the market when someone told him that Pintu was being thrashed by Bachhan Singh and Bagga Singh. He said when he reached home, Pintu was lying unconscious and the accused had fled from the spot.
When the police reached the spot, Pintu was already dead, following which a murder case was registered.
Pintu used to live alone in Kishor Nagar in a rented accommodation. His wife had died and his son lives in Chandigarh. His daughter is settled in Italy after marriage.
