An assistant deputy superintendent of police and two jail wardens were suspended for neglecting duty as two under-trials escaped from the Faridkot modern jail on Saturday.

Faridkot jail superintendent Kulwinder Singh Thiara said, "I have suspended two wardens - Tarsem and Naresh - and assistant deputy superintendent Dhian Singh, for neglecting duty. I have also written to the authorities to take action against two security personnel from PESCO (Punjab Ex-servicemen Corporation)."

The under-trials, who were accused in a theft case, allegedly scaled the boundary wall with the help of blankets. Their escape raises questions over security in the jail.

According to the jail authorities' complaint, they escaped under the cover of thick fog at about 8 am.
The two who escaped were Babbu Singh alias Shanker Singh (28), a resident of Sedha Singh Wala village of Faridkot district, and Balkaran Singh (35) of Manuke village of Moga district.
