The Lakhewali police in the district have booked three boys of Gandarh village under Sections 376, 511(rape) of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl of the same village.
Sources said the victim, a Class-8 student of village government school, was going to school on Friday morning when three boys from the village dragged her to a house near the school and allegedly raped her.
According to the sources, the house was lying vacant as its occupants were away at some religious place. A boy from the house was also allegedly involved in the crime.
The girl came home after about two hours and informed the parents about the incident.
The police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim's father and the medical examination of the girl has been conducted at the civil hospital, Muktsar, and further investigation is going on, said police sources.
"The police have registered a case under Sections 376 and 511 of the IPC besides under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against three boys from the village. The police are conducting raids to nab them as they are on the run," said Mohan Lal, station house officer of Lakhewali police station.
