Three-wheeler driver stabbed to death outside PGI

Chandigarh: Business rivalry took a bloody turn when a 23-year-old three-wheeler driver was stabbed to death by a fellow driver outside the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on Saturday late evening.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul, a resident of Dadumajra, and accused as Kalia.

The incident took place outside the PGI main gate opposite the police check post. The police said Rahul and Kalia got into an altercation as both of them tried to woo a customer, leading to a scuffle. Kalia allegedly attacked Rahul with a knife, leaving him in the pool of blood. The accused then fled from the spot.

The victim was declared brought dead at the PGI.

No arrest had been made till the filing of the report late at night. Senior police officials, along with cops from crime branch, visited the spot. “The accused fled from the spot, but efforts were on to trace him,” said a police official.
