The Punjab government on Saturday issued an order to change the timings of government medical and dental colleges and attached hospitals of Amritsar and Patiala.

Minister for medical education and research Brahm Mohindra said it has been brought to the notice of the state government that for the past several years, the working hours in medical, dental colleges and the attached hospitals of Punjab government were 8am to 2.30pm. However, from last two years, these timings were changed from 8am to 4pm.

The minister said the earlier change in time was only for the faculty and not for the para-medical staff.

He said the principals concerned of the government medical colleges are responsible to fulfil the norms of teaching hours recommended by the Medical Council of India.
