Two women and a toddler sustained serious injuries on Monday afternoon when two motorcycle-borne men snatched the gold chain from the neck of one of them near the Nari Niketan on Nakodar Road. The victims were on scooter when the accused pounced on them.
The victims have been identified as Maninder Kaur (25) her mother-in-law Simarjeet Kaur (50) and her grandson Manvir Singh (2). They have been admitted to Orthonova hospital with injuries on knees, arms, backs, legs, and faces. Maninder has also suffered a fracture in her left knee.
Maninder said they were on way to their house in Deol Nagar after shopping in Rainak Bazar on Monday afternoon on a scooter (PB08-AY-8261).
“When we reached Nari Niketan, two men on the black bike, came close to our scooter and the one riding pillion snatched my gold chain,” she said, adding that she lost hold over the scooter and the two-wheeler was dragged for a few metres resulting in injuries to her, her mother-in-law and son.
She said passersby took her to nearby Orthonova hospital and called the police.
