Following alleged harassment by bus conductor of her own school, a teenaged student committed suicide in Yamunanagar district on Monday night.

The 15-year-old student of Class 10 was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her house in Mayapuri locality of Yamunanagar city.

No one was reportedly at home when she allegedly committed suicide.

Deceased’s father, a Haryana roadways employee, alleged that her daughter was harassed frequently by the accused Golu.

In his police compliant, father alleged that Golu was reprimanded by the school principal after his daughter told the principal about the misbehaviour.

He alleged that Golu visited their house on Sunday and threatened the daughter for lodging a verbal complaint to the principal.

Sources said that deceased had not subscribed to school bus service.

Police said that 18-year-old accused had been living in the complainant’s vicinity.

“The accused has been arrested. There was no prior complaint of alleged harassment filed by the deceased or the family. We have yet to verify if the school administration was aware of the alleged sexual harassment by the bus conductor,” Farakpur SHO Dayal Chand said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the family took the body to their ancestral village in Sonepat for last rites.
