Torn pages of ‘gutka’ (holy book) were found near the Gobindpura village gurdwara in Mansa on Tuesday morning.

“The torn pages were first noticed by some villagers around 6:30 am. Police immediately reached the spot and sent the pages to Gurdwara Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo. The situation is under control and no protests have been reported in the area after the incident,” said Budhlada deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Rajveer Singh.

The incident comes on a day when several outfits of Sikh hardliners organised a congregation near Amritsar.

It’s the second case of sacrilege in the district. The first incident occurred in Aklia village on October 17. Police, at that time, had claimed that it would nab the culprits soon. The case, however, is yet to be cracked.
