Tractor-trolley mows down 6-year-old boy

A tractor-trolley mowed down a 6-year-old Class-2 boy in Hazuri Bagh Colony, Bhattian, on Thursday afternoon. The victim, Hemant Kumar, was going to attend a tuition class when the incident occurred.

The Ladhowal police have registered a case against the tractor-trolley driver, identified as Mukhtiar Singh of Amaltas Enclave, Bhattian, for causing death due to negligence and arrested him.

Hemant's father Ashok Kumar said his son was going for his tuition class on foot when the tractor-trolley hit him from behind and crushed him to death. The passersby gathered on the spot and nabbed the driver, before informing the police.

ASI Chaman Lal of Ladhowal police station said they had arrested the accused and registered a case against him. The accused was ferrying water in the trolley.

Hemant was the younger of the two siblings. His father Ashok Kumar is an electrician, while his mother Rupinder Kaur works as security guard at Hardy's world, an amusement park on Jalandhar Bypass in Ladhowal area. Hemant's elder sister Anjana is 8 years' old and studies in Class 4.
