Two local traders have accused Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Ranjit Singh of grabbing their house on Noorwala Road.

The traders, Chaman Singh and Iqbal Davinder Bir Singh, alleged that they bought a property from India Bulls bank five months ago and took its possession soon after.

"However, as soon as we started moving our things in the house, we got a message from MLA Ranjit Singh, whose office is situated opposite to the our house, to make some monetary settlements against the property. When we went to see him, he demanded Rs 20 lakh, stating that we had got the property on throwaway prices, and had to pay him his share," Chaman alleged.

He further alleged that when he and Iqbal denied to give the money, Ranjit, along with his nephew Sukhwinder Singh Sukha and Sandeep Kumar, threatened them of dire consequences.

"Following the threat, we filed a police complaint with the . But the police did not help us.

Later, Ranjit's men broke open our locks and grabbed the house by putting new locks on, Chaman alleged.

When contacted, refuting the allegations, the MLA said, "These are baseless allegations, as I do not even know these persons. This is just an attempt by some adversaries to malign my political image."
