Traders association demands beautification of martyr’s statute

The city residents paid rich tributes to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha on the occasion of his bir th anniversary on Saturday.

On this occasion, the members of Traders and Property Owners’ Association garlanded statue of the martyr at Feroze Gandhi market Ludhiana.

President of the market association, PS Gill, a retired chief engineer of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, said that it was matter of regret that one of the youngest martyrs of Punjab was being neglected. “The youngsters should take inspiration from him and take pledge to root out the social evils.”

The other members of the market association said that statue of Kartar Singh Sarabha should be made attractive.

Gill appealed to residents to come forward and celebrate the birth anniversary of the martyr every year and motivate their children to follow the p at h of truth. The members also demanded from the state government to give more importance the martyrs.

“The surroundings around statue should be beautified while lights and fountain should be installed near the statue to make it more attractive,” said Gill.

The birthday of the martyr was also celebrated by the members of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Market Association. Leader of Shiromani Akali Dal Jatinderpal Singh Saluja said, “The people should come forward against drug menace and social evils. They also demanded from the MC to build his statue in the market.”
