Office-bearers of the Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) have written a letter to deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, seeking changes in VAT, C forms and e-payment.

The scheme of e-generation of C forms should be introduced. If certain purchases have been omitted in the earlier quarter, the assessee should be allowed to include theses purchases," said PPBM president Amrit Lal Jain.

Jain said revision of VAT return, more specifically VAT 19, form should be allowed. He said that in VAT 20 too, appropriate fields can be incorporated to enter purchases not entered in VAT 19, on the basis of which C form can be issued.

PPBM senior vice-president Pyare Lal Seth said that just making VAT 19 the basis of issuing C forms and stopping manual C forms would lead to hardships. They called for an alternative system in which the assessee could be asked to furnish online request, along with VAT 20.
