The traffic wing of Ludhiana police has demanded early completion of elevated road on Jalandhar bypass in order to streamline the flow of traffic in the city.
The traffic wing has written to deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal to intervene in the matter and to direct the company, constructing the elevated road, to complete it immediately, before starting any work on the other roads of the city.
According to the traffic wing officers, the work on this road is almost complete. After laying of premix (mixture of gravel and tar) and installation of streetlights, the road will be ready to commute, but the company, constructing the bridge, has been concentrating on other roads of the city, instead of completing it.
Owing to the pending work on elevated road, a bottleneck has been created at Jalandhar Bypass, and it affects traffic at Basti Jodhewal Chowk, Samrala Chowk and Jagraon Bridge too.
Inspector, traf fic, Vinod Kumar, said, “Once the elevated road is opened for public, the problem of jams on Jalandhar Bypass chowk will be resolved.”
“To cope up with the problem of traffic jams, we have deputed also 12 cops to control the traffic 24 hours. With the completion of elevated road, the pressure on traffic wing will be reduced,” said Kumar said.
