A local travel agent was robbed of more than 4.5 lakh at gunpoint by two unidentified youth in broad daylight on Thursday.

The incident, which happened near Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib, one of the crowded areas of the city, has exposed the tall security claims of the Patiala police.

This could be judged from the fact that after committing the crime, the accused made easy exit and managed to flee on their motorcycle.

Neglecting adequate security arrangement, the local police have been only focusing on keeping a tab on drug smuggling and increasing numbers of FIRs on daily basis.

The incident happened around 4 pm when two unidentified youth in their teens entered local Friend’s Travel Agency.

“One of the accused then moved towards cashier of the travel agency and threatened to kill him if he failed to hand over the cash,” said Joginder Singh, owner of the travel agency.

As per the available information, five other employees of travel agency were present in the shop at the time of the incident.
