The city police have booked two Jalandhar-based travel agents on the charges of duping 8-lakh from a local person on pretext of sending him aborad.

Balwant Singh, a local resident submitted a complaint to the police alleging that he had paid R8-lakh to Des Raj and Rani, who were working at a travel agency in Jalandhar, as they promised to send both of his sons to Canada.

"The deal was stuck at R10-lakh and I paid R8-lakh in two instalments. The accused neither fulfilled their promise nor they returned the money. They even showed us fake visa to convince us," Balwant Singh said. The police after investigation, had booked both the accused under Section 406(breach of trust) and 420(fraud) of the IPC and Section 24 of the Emigration Act 1983.
