Even a little support from the community and corporates to bright students definitely changes their lives."
Bhupinder Singh, deputy commissioner, appreciated the efforts of Kushal and handed over the demand draft to Kusahl in the presence of Dr Vishal Agarwal, head, CSR of TSPL, and Sanjeev Singla and Dr Vijay Singla, representatives local organizations.
Kushal had lost hope of getting admission in the NIT due to lack of funds with his family. His father is a bakery vendor and cannot afford to pay the fees.
Kushal had studied in a government school and was a top scorer in the 2014-15 session. He was the only student in the merit list in class XII with 96% marks from Mansa and Bathinda from a government school. He also cleared the JEE without any coaching and secured a seat in the National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar.
