Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Syed Abdul Karim alias Tunda was produced in a local court here on Friday in connection with his alleged role in bomb blasts at Quila Road and vegetable market here in 1997.

Amid tight security,Tunda was produced in the court of Rajesh Sharma, additional district judge, who allowed Tunda to appear before the court in the next hearing on July 6 via video-conferencing.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Tunda's lawyer Vineet Verma said, "The court has fixed next hearing on July 6 as today all the six witnesses, including two policemen, could not appear in the court".

According to the police, Tunda was mastermind of three bomb blasts in Rohtak in January 1997 in which 8 people received injuries. Rohtak police had registered an FIR 1 under Sections 4,5 and 7 of the Explosive Substances Act and 307,120 B of IPC against Tunda on January 22, 1997.

Police had said that crude bombs were used to trigger blasts in the district by a member of Tunda's gang.

Tunda was also wanted in the Sonepat and Panipat bomb blasts of 1996 while several criminal cases against him are pending in the different courts of the country.

Tunda was arrested from the Nepal border in August 2013.
