With a prayer on her lips for her son's success, Satnam Kaur, mother of Devendra Pal Singh, a contestant in the reality show, Indian Idol, Season 6, paid obeisance at Harmandar Sahib here on Thursday.
Elated over the praise her son is getting, Kaur said it is a matter of pride for the family that Devendra has got such a platform and is being praised by the judges. "But I feel the biggest compliment was when Asha Bhonsle promised to attend Devendra's wedding," she said.
She added that Devendra had been learning classical music for the past seven years from Sukhwant Singh, who was also the teacher of late Ishmeet Singh, who had won the reality show Voice of India. Prior to this, he remained second runner-up in the show Gavo Sachi Baani aired on PTC Punjabi.
"Whenever we get a chance to talk to Devendra, he always says he is happy with the response he is getting in the show and the judges are praising his work. Many Sikh religious organisations have also expressed happiness over the fact that a Sikh boy is performing so well in the show," she said, adding that Devendra gets his singing talent from his maternal grandfather.
The mother performed ardas for her son's victory and appealed to people to appreciate and vote for her son.
