Two ACPs, 3 SHOs were on Goru Bachcha’s payroll: Police sources

During the interrogation of gangster Goru Bachcha, it has emerged that two assistant commissioner of police (ACP) rank officers and three SHOs were hand-in-glove with him and used to provide every possible help to him. The officers were ‘on his roll’ and used to get hefty amount from him every month, said sources.
He was also close to members of the ruling party and used his political links in postings of SHOs.
His connections with Student Organisation of India (SOI) leaders have already surfaced. Jeevan Sekha, district president of SOI, was booked and arrested for helping out and giving shelter to Goru Bachcha.
All cases registered against dreaded gangster Gaurav Sharma alias Goru Bachcha have been transferred to the Special Task Force (STF) of the Punjab police.
After bringing him on production warrants, the police have sent him to State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, for questioning.
Facing trial in 18 cases
He was arrested on August 18. Goru Bachcha is facing trial in 18 cases, including murder, attempt to murder and rape, murder of three-wheeler driver Vikrant Kumar on April 7 and attempt to murder on his friend turned foe Johny Lamba on June 23.
During his questioning, Goru Bachcha purportedly confessed to killing Vikrant Kumar following sudden provocation over parking of vehicles. He shot at Johny Lamba, who was once his close aide, for misbehaving with his mother and passing his information to the police.
Goru Bachcha said that Johny Lamba went to his home, along with another man, and misbehaved with his mother. He wanted to take revenge, so he pumped in 6 bullets in his body. However, Johny Lamba survived.
Accomplice held from Amritsar hospital
Akul Khatri, one of the accomplices of Goru Bachcha, has been arrested from Fortis Hospital, Amritsar, on Tuesday.
He was admitted to the hospital following bullet injuries suffered in gunfight with Gangster Davinder Bambiha alias Davinder Shooter in Tarn Taran on the intervening night of August 11 and 12.
After he was discharged from the hospital, police arrested him. He along with Goru Bachcha was wanted in shooting at Johny Lamba.
‘Bambiha wanted to be number 1’
Goru Bachcha said to police that dreaded gangster Davinder Bambiha alias Davinder Shooter, who was killed in police encounter in Bathinda, on September 9, wanted to kill him and Jaggu Bhagwanpuri, another gangster of Majha area to get supremacy in Punjab. Bambiha had kidnapped Akul Khatri and challenged him and Dilbag Singh alias Lamma of Patti to come for his rescue in Tarn Taran. Dilbag Singh went there and they exchanged fire in which Dilbag Singh was killed and Akul Patti was injured and rushed to a hospital.He added that Bambiha had a stronghold in Malwa area, but he was ‘ambitious’ to become number 1 gangster, so he was challenging Jaggu, who was active in Majha area.
