Two arrested in attempt to murder case in Moga

The district police have arrested two persons Vikram Sharma, a resident of Kot-Ise-Khan, and Raman Sharma, a resident of Zira in the district, in an attempt to murder case. Both were produced in a local court here, which sent them in police custody till January 23.

As per information, in a complaint to Moga senior superintendent of police (SSP) Jatinder Singh Khaira, Kapil Dev Sharma, a resident of Kot-Ise-Khan had stated that eight people, including assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Surinder Pal Singh and a head constable Jatinder Kumar, had allegedly attacked him with weapons and wooden sticks when he was returning home after closing his shop on November 25, 2014.

Police officials said that ASI Surinder Pal Singh, head constable of Punjab police Jatinder Kaumar, Vikram Sharma, Lucky Takkar, Raghu Sharma, all residents of Kot-Ise-Khan, Raman Sharma of Zira and four unidentified people had been booked by the police in the case on November 26, 2014.

After a criminal case was registered, ASI Surinder Pal Singh, who was posted at Smalsar police station under Baghapurana subdivision, and head constable Jatinder Kumar, posted at Ajitwal police station under Nihal Singh Wala subdivision of the district, were suspended by SSP Jatinder Singh Khaira on December 26 last year.

Khaira said, "A special police team has been formed for nabbing the accused. Further investigations are underway."
