The district police on Tuesday booked two people of Machhike village for abducting a Class-12 student from Dala village in the district.

Jaipal Singh, assistant sub-inspector at the Ajitwal police station, said the mother of the victim, a resident of Machhike village, had complained to the senior superintendent of police that her daughter had passed the Class-11 exam and took admission in next class a few days back.

"My daughter had gone to her maternal uncle's house at Dala, when Kuldeep Singh and Sukha Singh, both residents of Machhike village, allegedly came to our house in a car and forcibly abducted my daughter," the victim's mother said in her complaint.

Surjit Singh Grewal, senior superintendent of police, said after receiving the complaint the police barricaded the main and link roads of the district but could not nab the culprits. "We have constituted two special teams led by an SP-rank officer for investigating the matter. A case has been registered against Kuldeep Singh and Sukha Singh under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and investigation is on. After a clear picture in the case comes to light we would catch the culprits," said the SSP.
