Two booked for abetment to suicide

The Basti Jodhewal police have booked two men for abetting suicide of a street vendor on Monday, following the suicide note left by the deceased.

Bharat Kishore, 53, committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan in his house at Shera colony on the Tibba Road.

Ravi Shankar, son of deceased, said his father had borrowed some money from Sukhjeet Singh and Ravinder Sharma. Both of them came to their house and harassed Kishore to return money. After that his father committed suicide by hanging himself when his family went to sleep on the rooftop.

In a suicide note, the victim blamed Sukhjeet and Ravinder for harassment. He has also mentioned that he had returned all the money with interest but the accused were still harassing and threatening him for returning their money back.

Following the complaint of Shankar, police registered a case against the suspect under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC.

Assistant sub-inspector Somnath said the police have launched manhunt for arresting the accused.
