Police have booked a Pathankot resident and an unidentified auto-driver on the charges of raping a 21-year-old woman. In her complaint, the woman has alleged that the main accused, Shamsher, raped her on Tuesday after she was taken to a sweet shop where he was already present, by an auto-driver she had hired to go home on the evening of September 15.
However, she has also told the police that Shamsher - a neighbour - had developed an intimate relationship with her around four years ago.
"The relationship had continued for two years, before I parted ways with Shamsher after he started blackmailing me," she has claimed.
Sub-inspector Inderbir Kaur, who is investigating the matter, said, "The unidentified auto driver and Shamsher has been booked under Sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 354 (assault or criminal force to outraging woman's modesty) and 120B (criminal conspiracy). of the Indian Penal Code."
