Two die, five hurt as mini-truck rolls down gorge

Two persons died on the spot and five others were injured when a private mini-truck they were travelling in rolled down a gorge near Chhibari village of Ghanugughat panchayat under Arki subdivision of the district on Thursday.


The deceased have been identified as Mohan Lal (56) and Raman Kumar (4) of Chhibari village. The injured children, namely Parvati, Kritika, Palak, Sakhasi and Anita, residents of Kuni village, were admitted to the Arki civil hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that all children were on the way to participate in children fair at Ghangughat village. As soon as the vehicle reached near Chhibari village, the driver suddenly lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into a gorge, leaving two dead.

Arki sub-divisional magistrate Devraj Bhatia, who also visited the spot, later disbursed Rs 10,000 each to the next of the kin of the deceased, while Rs 5,000 to the each injured children as an immediate relief.

Meanwhile, social justice and empowerment minister DR Shandil expressing his sympathy with bereaved families asked the hospital authorities to provide all necessary medicines and treatment to the children on priority basis.
