Three persons, including two employees of a gas agency, were arrested for allegedly black marketing commercial gas cylinders. The police recovered 42 gas cylinders sans documents from the accused.

Those arrested have been identified as Radhey Shyam Gupta of Noorwala Road, Jaspal Singh of Noor Mahal and Mohammad Ansari of Noor Mahal. Jaspal is a driver with a gas agency of Noor Mahal, while Mohammad is deployed in the warehouse of the same gas agency.

A case under section 7 of the Essential Commodity Act has been registered against the accused at Basti Jodhewal police station.

Sub-inspector Rajesh Sharma, incharge, CIA staff-2, said the police arrested the accused from Kailash Chowk following a tip-off on Sunday and recovered 42 gas cylinders from their possession.

Sharma said the accused failed to produce any documents for the gas cylinders. When the police interrogated them, they confessed that they used to sell the cylinders for higher price among eateries and factories.

He added that once a worker in a gas agency, Radhey was facing trial in two cases registered against him under Essential Commodity Act at Basti Jodhewal police station.

The Basti Jodhewal police had arrested him around a month ago for illegally refilling small cylinders from domestic LPG gas cylinders and recovered 35 cylinders from his possession.

He said more important information was expected from the accused during questioning.
