The police arrested two girls hours after they stole a purse containing Rs 12,000 and ATM cards belonging to the wife of an industrialist at a city-based restaurant at Lajpat Nagar on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Sarika (21) and Kareena (19) from Madhya Pradesh, were arrested from Rainak Bazar in the evening.

As seen in the CCTV footage, the accused entered the restaurant when a kitty party being organised by Tajinder Kaur of Urban Estate was going on at 12.50pm. The two took a round of hall and then came to the chair where Kaur was sitting along with her friends.

Though a little shaky, the theft was caught on an installed CCTV:

Sarika engaged a waiter while her accomplice lifted Kaur’s purse and the two left the restaurant.

Kaur’s husband Paramjeet took a snapshot of the CCTV footage in which the two girls were seen stealing the purse and sent to the same his friends on WhatsApp. Pritam, a waiter in the restaurant, told the police that one of the girls (Sarika) had a large tattoo of butterfly on her neck.

One of Paramjeet’s friends spotted the girls while roaming at Rainak Bazar and informed the former.

Paramjeet along with some women cops rushed there and they were apprehended. Later, the police recovered the stolen purse from the two and registered a case against them.
