WEAK SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS
As per information the fight lasted for over half an hour and around 10 inmates thrashed Jatinder and Satinder with iron roads and bricks. But none of the officials came to know about the fight for 30 minutes until one inmate informed the security personnels. Sources said that even some prisoners pulled the siren bell thrice immediately after the fight. But still displaying a laid-back attitude the officials reached late on the spot. Later, a team of jail officials, led by superintendent of police (SP) Kulwinder Singh Thiara brought the situation under control, an official said.
“The attack was executed done with the help of jail staff,” one of the victim Jatinder claimed.
“Few days ago I had told the warden that the rival group was planning to attack us. But he did not pay heed to it,” said Jatinder.
Meanwhile, the SP claimed, “We are investigating about why the jail staff took time to reach the spot.”
“The inmates had a scuffle in the morning. As the jail is undergoing construction, the inmates reportedly acquired the material for the attack from the construction matter. Inquiry in the incident has been started,” Thiara said.
