The police have recovered 11 mobile phones from their possession. The accused have been identified as Mandeep Singh alias Mota, 25, of Model Colony of Jagirpur Road and Manpreet Singh alias Kaka, 25, of Mohalla Captain Colony.
They confessed that they had snatched the mobile phones from labourers and women.
Sub-inspector (SI) Rajesh Sharma, incharge, anti-narcotics and anti illicit-liquor smuggling wing, said, “Police arrested the accused from near civil hospital during a special checking. The accused were passing through the area on motorcycle. Police stopped them for checking and recovered mobile phones from them. They were taking the mobiles in a polythene bag for selling them.
The police have registered a case under Sections 379, 382, 411 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The SI said, “Mandeep Singh is a factory worker, while Manpreet Singh is farmer. Both of them are drug addicts. They indulged in snatchings to meet their need of drugs. They were active in areas including Rahon Road, Meharban and Focal Point area. The police have been expecting more important information from accused in questioning.”
