punjab Updated: Apr 21, 2013 21:56 IST

The city police have registered a case against three persons after BJP councillor Preeti Taneja accused them of teasing her and attempting to snatch her gold bangle. While two of the accused have been arrested, their third accomplice is said to be at large.

In her police complaint, the BJP councillor said, "The accused indulged in vulgar action in front of my car as I turned from Lawrance Road on Saturday. When I got down and questioned them, the accused tried to twist my arm to get hold of my gold/diamond bangle. As I shouted for help, some passersby caught hold of the accused and handed them over to police."

Lawrence Road police post incharge, ASI Parveen Kumar, said, "As soon as we received the information, a police patrol team reached the spot and apprehended Amritpal Singh and Manpreet Singh. Third suspect Ravinder Pal Singh managed to escape."

A case under Sections 382, 511 and 354 of the IPC has been registered against the three. "We are trying to arrest the third suspect too," said ASI Parveen Kumar.
