Two injured in Jalandhar after car owner opens fire on them

Two persons sustained serious injuries when a car-borne person fired upon them after one of the victim’s bike hit his car from its behind at Deep Nagar near the cantonment locality, in Jalandhar on Monday.

Thereafter, the injured were taken to Johal Hospital where they have been shifted to the ICU for treatment.

As per the reports, Ajay Kumar and his cousin brother Suraj, residents of Ranjit Enclave, have received bullet injuries after car owner, identified as Rupinderjeet, who is their neighbour, fired upon them.

As per the police, Suraj along with his wife Ritu, who is seven-month pregnant, was coming from a private hospital after a medical check-up. When they reached near their house, their neighbour Rupinderjeet was reversing his car, which hit the bike, after which he started arguing with them. In the meantime, Ajay also arrived at the spot to pacify the situation. But the accused suddenly opened fire on them and fled away with his white Skoda car.

After getting the information, the Sadar police rushed to the spot and started investigation the case.

ADCP Amrik Singh Pawar said the police have been recording the statements and a case would be registered against the accused.
