The Bathinda Counter Intelligence (CI) wing claimed to have arrested two smugglers at Indo-Pak border and recovered one-kilogram of heroine smuggled from Pakistan worth Rs 5 crore.
Under the special operation cell headed by Assistant Inspector General Counter Intelligence Ajay Maluja, both the accused identified as Amritveer Singh and accused Baaj Singh of Tarn Taran district were arrested with heroine on Ferozepur Zira link road. The duo were carrying the heroine on their bike when caught red handed by the intelligence.
Bathinda counter Intelligence claimed this as its third big achievement in a week. On September 12 it had arrested the accused already booked under NDPS Act, the three interstate smugglers from
doomwali tax barrier in Bathinda and recovered a huge quantity of poppy husk worth Rs 12 lakh besides 3 kg opium and a truck.
Speaking to HT Jatindra Jain IGP Counter Intelligence Bathinda said,"The accused used to smuggle the heroine from two years from Khemkaran border and were caught on Ferozepur-Zir link road and booked under section 21/61/85 of NDPS Act in Zira police station. Till now we had recovered 13 kg of heroine, 32 kg of opium, 14 quintal of poppy husk, 740 gm smack, fake currency of Rs 4, 27, 800, two foreign weapons and 36 international and interstate smugglers.
On August 22, CI Bathinda arrested two interstate smugglers with 7kg heroine and fake currency of around Rs 6 lakh brought from Dubai and Pakistan.
On July 5, CI Bathinda arrested three interstate smugglers with 10 kg opium.
On June 30, CI Bathinda arrested three accused with 5.5 kg opium.
On June 23, CI Bathinda arrested five members of gang with 5 kg opium.
On June 21 two international drug peddlers with 8.6 kg of heroine worth Rs 43 crore were arrested by Bathinda counter intelligence while on June 22 3kg heroine from Ferozepur.
